MPhil, Grad Dip (OMT), BScPhysio (Hons)

Megan van Selm is a physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience, having worked in both hospital and private musculoskeletal settings in South Africa, England and Australia. Megan has also lectured in the School of Physiotherapy at the University of Notre Dame for 9 years training our future physiotherapists.

Megan recently completed her Master of Philosophy degree through the University of Notre Dame. Her research explored particular mechanisms underlying pain. Her article entitled “Visually-induced analgesia in a deep tissue experimental pain model: a randomised cross-over experiment” was accepted and published in the European Journal of Pain.

Megan believes patient education is a fundamental component of patient management. Combining her deep understanding of pain, with evidence-based practice, she strives to empower her patients within a positive and active environment. Megan uses biomechanical digital video analysis to help identify underlying contributing factors, such as faulty movement patterns, which further enables accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. She places a large focus on getting patients moving and exercising appropriately to assist with pain management.

Megan is passionate about helping people in pain and “getting to the root of the problem.”
